Hola and Welcome. My name is Dr. Manuel Malia. I have a doctorate degree in applied linguistics with a specialty in second language acquisition. I am a native of Spain with more than 25 years of experience teaching all levels of Spanish in the United States. I have taught from kindergarten all the way to Ivy League institutions. Currently, I live in Spain with my family and my wannabe poodle, who may show up in your class.

If you are looking for a Spanish tutor who will adapt to your needs, and help you achieve your language learning goals in a fun and engaging way, look no further. That person is right here. As far as I ran my classes, the emphasis is on communicative activities rather than grammar, so you will be speaking and learning grammar through conversation. It is up to you if you would also like to do some reading and writing, which I would recommend.

I am an optimistic and positive person with a good sense of humor. When I am teaching, I like to create a relaxed environment where we can have fun and a positive experience. My experience has made it very clear to me that a positive and relaxed environment is conducive to effective learning. My experience has also shown me that it is never too late to start learning a new language. In fact, one advantage of learning a new language as an adult is our capacity to think and understand how the language works. This can make the learning process more efficient.

• a beginner, I can get you talking in short sentences right away, and we will build your Spanish from that point on.

• coming back to Spanish after a break, we can refresh all the grammar as you speak, and expand your vocabulary at the same time.

• confident with your Spanish, but need or improve your fluency, or just get it back, we can talk about a wide variety of subject, newspaper articles, movies, books, etc.
